Affordable Housing Policy

Affordable Housing

The provision of more affordable housing in West Oxfordshire is a key priority for the District Council, due to the relatively high price of housing in the area.

One of the most effective ways of providing more affordable housing is through the planning system, with policies to secure new provision set out in Local Plans. It is important to ensure however, that policy requirements do not make new developments unviable, as this could inhibit the delivery of new homes.

This consultation paper seeks views on the Council's proposed approach towards affordable housing, which is based on seeking a financial contribution from small schemes of 1-5 dwellings with on-site provision being required on larger residential schemes of 6+ dwellings.

We would like your views on the proposed approach before we take the proposals further through the emerging Local Plan.
