West Oxfordshire Proposed Submission Local Plan 2011-2031

West Oxfordshire District Council has formally published the
‘Pre -Submission Draft West Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 – 2031’ in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 and following the statutory 6-week period within which representations can be made, intends to submit the plan to the Secretary of State for independent examination. 

The pre-submission draft West Oxfordshire Local Plan establishes a vision of the District in 2031 and sets out a series of objectives, policies and proposals to guide that vision. The plan is based on a presumption in favour of sustainable development and seeks to address a number of key challenges facing the District including housing, employment, transport and protection of the natural and historic environment. To provide further detail at the local level, the plan splits the District into five sub-areas and sets out a detailed strategy for each.

The Local Plan covers the entire administrative area of West Oxfordshire District.


The plan was published for a period of 6 weeks from Friday 27 March 2015 until Friday 8 May 2015.

During this period, representations were invited on whether the plan is sound, legally compliant and has been prepared in accordance with the duty to co-operate.
