Thank you for your letter dated 28th November in response to my letter of 20th November regarding the West Oxfordshire Draft Local Plan.

 

I can confirm that the contents of your letter were discussed at our Parish Council meeting held on Monday 3rd December.

 

Whilst Councillors noted your points surrounding our areas of concern, some parts of your letter did not appear to make sense regarding the increase in traffic.  Councillors are still very concerned about the potential increase in traffic, not only at peak times, but in general as a result of the Shores Green junction being built.  Bridge Street simply cannot cope with any more traffic than the amount that travels through it currently, and theWest End Link Roadwould ease this problem with a huge beneficial impact on a journey into Witney from our side of town.

 

You state in your letter that the route of theWest End Link Roadis within the floodplain and is therefore less preferable than the Shores Green option.  However, we understand that only 2% of theWest End Link Roadroute is actually within the floodplain.  Also, if theWest End Link Roadwas to go ahead the attenuation ponds would stop the flooding problems inHailey Roadand the bridge would stop flooding inBridge Streetand West End because floods would be held back in theWindrushValley.  TheWest End Link Roadwould also ease congestion inBridge Street, WestEnd and in Witney as a whole.
